Walking down Main street in Freeport it would be easy to miss Coffee by Design unless you’re going into the LL Bean building at 95 Main Street. While it’s inside the LL Bean building it’s actually a separate business. It’s a comfortable coffee shop serving good coffee and and speciality options including hot and cold tea. They carry rolls, pastries, breakfast sandwiches and some wraps. It’s usually a short wait to get served by a friendly staff member.

Lots of folks sit and visit, others sit and read with a cup of coffee and pastry. Others kick back and relax while the more energetic shoppers in the family roam through the major LL Bean store upstairs. There’s usually enough seating to go around and if you’re waiting for a shopper you might get lucky and find an open place on the sofa or one of the two large leather chairs.
