You’ll find Nubble Light in York about an hour south of Portland if you travel on I-95. It will probably take about 90 minutes if you travel the more scenic coastal roads. The lighthouse is not open to the public but sits on a small island and the view from the park is iconic. It’s a great spot for pictures and you can usually find a place for a shot that’s not full of tourists. There’s a gift shop on the grounds of the park that is open seasonally. It’s a good place to reflect on the life and times of the people who settled here and relied on the sea for their livelihood. Take a picnic lunch or snack and sit on the rocks and enjoy the view.
